Researching about the course that you wish to pursue is the most important thing that you have to do. Remember that you will be travelling to the UK for this purpose only, you will be going there for pursuing your education. This could be a graduation, a post-graduation, or a PhD. The basic thing that you must keep in mind is that you will be spending north of £20,000 (INR 18,00,000) for approximately an year, so you cannot take this lightly.
Now, there are two ways that you can take to decide what course you want to take.
In this case, our focus is divided on career and passion. It means that your focus is following a career that you are passionate about. As a result, you will have to choose a course which you like and also it offers you great career opportunities. If you are sure of the field/discipline you want to make your career in, then you just need to research for the universities.
If, however, you are not sure what career you want to pursue, you can do your research. I will publish an article on how to determine your career and will link it here soon.
This is the kind of path that I am following. Read carefully.
What this entails is that you essentially follow the career of your choice. However, due to its unconventional nature, you cannot start earning right after you finish the course. Because your career choice is new and innovative, you need some time to set it up before you it can start giving you some return.
For instance, in my case, I am originally passionate for literature, writing, and storytelling.
- However, that is something that I am not able to build a career in initially as there are not many jobs.
- Since I also have to pay my loan and survive, I need a job to pay off my bills.
- Therefore, I did an English Language Teaching certificate course that will help me to earn money by teaching.
- This helps me in earning money for survival while pursuing my passion for writing and storytelling.
Therefore, you would need to invest some amount of money additionally in gaining a specific set of skills (it may/may not be related to your intended path of career). Those skills help you secure a job. That job will pay for your essential bills. Meanwhile, you will be able to build your main pursuit of career.
But, what if my course helps me secure a part-time job pay my bills, without needing to do another short course?
In that case, you simply need to manage your time between the two things. Then, you should not worry about spending more money. In fact, with the 2-year UK PSW, this will be very easy to do.
I know understanding this route would be a little confusing for some. Don’t worry, I will publish both blogs and videos about how the various routes work.
If you are confused about working for passion versus working for career, then you can watch this video to understand how I have managed to keep both of them alive. (link coming soon)
What should I do next?
So, what should we do next? Now that you have understood how to conduct that initial bit of research, you can further focus down to doing specific research according to the route that you had decide above. Follow the links given below for that.
